Roadworks commencing on Lobethal Rd from Monday 12th February

G’day,

Ashton and Basket Range are going to be hit with more road closures in February. This may affect your route to the quarry, as Adelaide to Lobethal Rd will be closed down for repair for up to 6 weeks. From Monday the 12th of Feb, the road works crew will have detours in place, but I have also included a map to give you an idea on how you can find us.

The detours will point you down either down Woods Hill Rd onto Tregarthen Rd and into Summertown. If you miss that one Stony Rise Rd will bring you up to Tregarthen Rd and into Summertown. You can then follow Greenhill Rd into Uraidla and turn off onto Basket Range Rd, opposite the pub.

All the best from BRS

Tour Down Under road closures, we are business as usual

The Tour Down Under is coming to town and is going to make it hard to get to the quarry on Wednesday 17th and Friday the 19th of January. On Wednesday there will be a rolling road block through Balhannah, so please be aware and have a look at the map at the bottom of the page for a different route. For the 19th please have a look at the below map and times for road closure details, and at the bottom of the page is a route that will get you to us on either day.

Your best bet to get to the quarry is to come via the Freeway, Bridgewater exit as shown in the map below

Sandstone cutting machines

Stone cutting machines, build them big to cut big stone. All of our stone is quarried on site at Basket Range Sandstone’s quarry in the majestic Adelaide Hills. Because we have a very fractured resource, our stone is extracted only using an 80 tonne excavator, no blasting required. This process leaves us with a lot of weirdly shaped rocks, not as flat and laminar as Carey Gully Sandstone, making it necessary to cut the rocks into a workable shape.
